I do find it interesting that until very recently, the memorial service on the Sunday was deemed sufficient.

The 2 mins silence at 11:00a.m on 11th November was unmarked.

(I made a point of ignoring the 3 minute silence for the Twin Towers anniversary. I found that distasteful, disproportionate and inappropriate. ClientCo ordered us to conform and implied there would be action taken against non-conformists. I chose to non-conform.)

I agree with you. It was a cynical attempt by Blair to link T2 and his war on terror(twunt!) to the sacrifice our forfathers made and in doing so diluted the potent message that is the 2 mins silence.
