It happens every year on here. Someone dares to speak out against the status quo and makes himself such an easy target that eventually someone, you in this instance I believe, comes out of the woodwork to begin the lynching. Diesel is probably the bravest of the lot of you.

I say again, by all means debate the rights and wrongs of the 11th of the 11th - but NOT TODAY. Most people have the respect and awareness that for some it is a sore point, and have the manners to keep their opinions to themselves just for one day. Bear in mind that 11/11/11 is not just about WW1, it is about WW1 and all subsequent wars/conflicts - some people here clearly forget/ignore that.

To enjoy going out of one's way to cause as much offense as possible just for the sake of it is the sign of someone with some major problems, and it is unfortunate (though not surprising in your case) that you find his attitude "logical". Thinking about it, we should feel sorry for both of you - quite frankly I find you both pretty disgusting.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

I handed over some money and received a poppy in exchange, in the same way as I sometimes "buy" things in charity shops. What happens to the funds following these purchases is immaterial to the use of the word "buy".
Just wanted to add, in case that seemed a bit peremptory, I see what you were getting at Churchill, and "bought" the poppy in the right spirit.

Just for the record, have you read the posts made by the person you are defending?

          Here they are...

Tripe, why not have a minutes silence for all the people the British Armies have killed throughout history. Waste of 2 minutes, anyone stupid enough to sign up to the Army are either morons or nutjobs.

          In your sheep following opinion.

          Great argument.

Waste of time! Why not have minutes silence to all those who died of cancer or black death

Why? One day is no different to the next. I think its time we forgot, WW1 has no meaning to me and never will, just like some ant dying in a rain forrest in 1910 has no meaning.

Shut up you brainless moron, your the obeying some pointless routine every year because you are told to. I take it you read the Sun.

Calling people scum because they have a different opinion. Sign of low IQ or mental illness. In your case I suspect both. I would repeat in public unlike you I have a spine.

What does that even mean paying respect to the dead, they are dead they dont know you are paying respect. Waste of time. Join the moron club.

I would rather remember the time my kids did something for the first time than a bunch of dead soldiers who were not related to me in any way.

Exactly the whole thing is a joke, only the niave or stupid play along.

Yeah lets ban people with different opinions, another moron added to my list of morons.

You top the list of Morons.

People die all the time through no fault of their own, why not remember them.

All the morons that feel so strongly, any of you heading over to Afghanistan? Thought not, pity would clean the gene pool up a bit.

          Forced - Draughted.

Hes a moron then, he could have lived. I bet his family were glad he didi that.

Yeah great, respect my opinion but I am allowed to ridicule yours.

I was attacked first for stating my opinions, if you attack me prepare to be made to look a moron (isnt hard with some of the posters).

Thanks you are the first to not attack me. I respect your opinion.

HA Ha top of the class, a real scum bag.

Come on, I got everyone through a boring Wednesday. Tomorrows thread - Why I didn't care when princess Diana died.

          Spot on, spot on!
Brave? I doubt he's brave at all away from his keyboard and doubt he'd ever do anything for the benefit of others.

I hesitate in fact to call him a man in anything other than his sex. He's definitely lacking something.

He defends me because I have the backbone to tell the truth, against the braindead masses who like robots follow a yearly ritual without thought. Maybe if you had a pair of stones like me then you'll start to think for yourself. However I doubt a misery guts like you will ever grow a spine.

I doubt he was trying to cause maximum offence and bear in mind this is an IT forum where all sorts of topics are discussed, not a veterans board. Both sides used OTT emotive language in this thread, including you. Happens every year.

Well, I don't really like lynchings. I usually back the underdog, I must be British. I think it sad it can't even be discussed rationally on any day of the year.

I bet the Meleneus observed the 2 minute silence.

He probably thinks the tunnel is nearly finished as well.
