Bollards, as usual from you. My family have a long tradition in the army and never went for this remembrance malarkey. It's an emotional thing, not a logical one, IMO. I don't think it accomplishes anything much for the positive, but fair play if people want to remember these things and do ceremonies, etc, but let others have their own (probably more logical) view too. Emotions are so often a force for evil.

It happens every year on here. Someone dares to speak out against the status quo and makes himself such an easy target that eventually someone, you in this instance I believe, comes out of the woodwork to begin the lynching. Diesel is probably the bravest of the lot of you.

I say again, by all means debate the rights and wrongs of the 11th of the 11th - but NOT TODAY. Most people have the respect and awareness that for some it is a sore point, and have the manners to keep their opinions to themselves just for one day. Bear in mind that 11/11/11 is not just about WW1, it is about WW1 and all subsequent wars/conflicts - some people here clearly forget/ignore that.

To enjoy going out of one's way to cause as much offense as possible just for the sake of it is the sign of someone with some major problems, and it is unfortunate (though not surprising in your case) that you find his attitude "logical". Thinking about it, we should feel sorry for both of you - quite frankly I find you both pretty disgusting.

I handed over some money and received a poppy in exchange, in the same way as I sometimes "buy" things in charity shops. What happens to the funds following these purchases is immaterial to the use of the word "buy".
