BolshieBastard really does take the village idiot title since cyberman left the building, he floats around here completely unaware of what Bolshevik means.

I pity that man's current client.

Maybe we should get rid of our cowboys and bring in General Shawadiwadi to show us how the professionals do it?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Well that is what will happen in about 10 years, we will ditch the job onto a UN force made up of Bangladeshi troops wearing blue helmets.

The Afgans seem to have an annoying habit of fighting superpowers and winning.

But we were told the job was good one years ago, hearts and minds and all that army PR drivel.

If this was any other industry there would be serious questions but the army seem to get away with being, well, generally crap.

They have 2 very big advantages on their side:

              1) there is nothing of serious value there - this means any damage they cause (even if it is relatively small) greatly exceeds benefits of trying to win it

              2) the life there is harsh historically and dieing in battle for them may seem like pretty good way out.

With all the money we spend on them why cannot they finish the job? years they have been in Afghanistan and they are still getting the run around.

We all kick off when we see government contracts in IT coming in late, but why are the army getting off lightly? They said they could do the job but obviously are not capable of bettering a bunch of farmers they said were won over with their heart and minds drivel 5 years ago.

Why can't they just finish the job?
When the Yanks decide to leave, the British Army will have finished the job.

The job is to show solidarity with the Yanks, and help them as best we can.

Did anyone just see that army throbber on the ITV news?

"It is a war that is winnable and we are winning" yadda yaddda

"we are taking the fight to them"

Can this throbber not read what I posted last 2 months ago about their repeated drivel on "talking the fight to them"

The Afgan campaign was reasonable in 2001, the idea being to stop them hosting and assisting international terrorists that threatened the west.

Then in 2003 we split our forces and invaded Iraq...
