State of contract market for PMs - how long before Xmas kills off anything for 2009?

I have noticed more roles being advertised and slightly more phone calls over the first half of the month but it seems to be tailing off now, so maybe the 'its Xmas soon lets wait 'til next year' is starting to kick in now?

    Views from the panel please?

Lets look at the evidence. Its nearly November. Xmas is in December. I think you are onto something here! Not the sharpest knife are you.

I used to find that from roughly mid November it became increasingly difficult to get commitments to do anything and would not get better until mid January. Not only getting new roles, but sign off on bits of work, etc.

I think it's a national disgrace and I'm glad I don't have to deal with it anymore.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Its like this - the longer you stand on the street corner with your paper cup out, the more people will walk past and feel sorry for you.
