I spent more than that on the RAM.

And it still spends most its time only looking for aliens.

I fail to see how a bunch of assembled components, most of which are mass produced by other companies and stuffed into a shiney box make Mac's a "design icon".
There is nothing revolutionary about their design

Ipods... yes I can see the arguement there
        Iphone... ditto.

So I know nothing about computers and I'm gay!

          What next?

PS. It has been a very long time since I spent £2000 on a Mac.

No, I'm not Gok Wan (), yes, quite a few Apple products are design icons (including the iPhone), and yes, iconography is more than the components the product is manufactured from.

You're being a little naïve if you underestimate the role design plays here. It's not all about function. The most successful designs have a balance/harmony between form and function.

Did you see the state of all-in-one pcs prior to the iMac?

Come out of the closet. It's OK you know. You'll feel better if you do.

                Welcome my brother.

BTW, I fraking hate MAC's and the people who love 'em.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I got quite adept at fixing Apple II power supplies. I can give you some tips if you want to get it fixed.
