Your son needs to learn how to wake up and go back to sleep again without intervention. You the parents should not be going to comfort the child during the night when he wakes.

Yes it does settle down after a few months then the teething starts, the boots herbal powders are good for that. They're more fun when the words start to string together.

I couldn't help but laugh yesterday when I got out the shower as I was confronted by my 22 month old girl staring and pointing between my legs saying "daddy's got a tale".
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I can't offer much more than sympathy I'm afraid. All the parents I know got through it OK, and they are still relatively sane.

If you are doing the cooking keep it simple and get some ready meals in for when you really can't be arsed. Perhaps you could get a cleaner in for a while to help with the housework?

To be honest I thought it was bloody hard work for the first 12 months or so with the first daughter. Recently had a second daughter and am finding this one loads esasier, mostly because the missus does nearly all of it (even being sort of benched), but also because she is just not so wingey. They are all different mate. But it will get easier. One thing I did notice was that out of the loads of books we read with the first duaghter we could never find the answer to making it as easy as the books suggested. She just grew out of it eventually.

          Best of luck anyhow.

Mr P found the perfect solution to sleepless nights, he didnt have any!
I was feeding her myself and there wasnt much point in him being up as well

It does get better - honest

We didnt have Pogle jnr in bed with us for the first year, then we spent the next 6 years trying to get her out, but to be honest, what's wrong with you all sleeping together?
We tried the controlled crying bit - and hated it. We made many mistakes I'm sure, but our daughter seems very happy and confident so I dont think we're doing too much wrong.

              All the best

In about 3 years time you will get to sleep for 3.5 hours. Be patient

That sounds about right, I've got 2 under 5 years old at the moment, it's only the past 6 months really that they've started to sleep all night. So yeah, be patient!
