                      Agreed. Over-rated guff popularised by not-so-bright hippies during the Vietnam war.

                      I go for "War and Peace". Can be read at many levels, has something for everyone: brilliant war story (Napoleon in Russia), some truly brilliant battle scenes, a great love story, portrait of its times. To be read and re-read.

                      Size is a bit daunting to many, but the pages fly by.
