I commuted from East Yorkshire to Salford Quays for a while, took 1 hour 15 outside rush hour and 2 hours inside.

    Easily doable from West Yorkshire.

I live in Halifax 16 miles East to Leeds and 35 West to Manchester (5 mins from the motorway), I don't know when you were doing the run to Salford, but outside of the school holidays it's a minimum of an hour to either city during rush hours and quite often worse. That's without roadworks and there are plenty of those at the moment going West

If you are already working away from home - WTF is the point of doing a huge commute every day too!

If you're commuting from home, then fine.
I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

That's my attitude, at the moment I'm renting a place 5 mins from the site which is 280 miles from home. I have no desire to drive any further than I have to.

It was a 74 mile Journey, normally I'd set off at 9:15 and be in Salford Quays for 10:30, but if I had to be there for 9 I would set off at 7.

Admitedly if there was an accident, then you were stuffed, the journey once took me 4 hours on a Friday evening.

                Sockpuppetry

                Pray tell what is Sockpuppetry?

Thanks Sally Anne for such disparaging remarks to a newbie. PMT love?

It really encourages me to stay and contribute.

I have been lurking for a while and only decided to join to give some advice /assistance to a fellow contractor who has the same problems I had recently.

Perhaps I'll just f'off if thats the attitude on here.

If you'd really been lurking for a while (long enough to know who people are, what they're up to, etc) then you would have been lurking long enough to know what we're like, and not be so offended.

So mad dog doug, I'm not buying you as a newbie. End of.

                  f'off you go.

                  (no offence)

                    Thanks Doug

I've emailed Menelaus, as my ability to PM seems to be disabled.

Thanks to you and everyone else who's offered help and advice, please don't f'off! Just ignore those people who have nothing better to offer than random abuse!

Wind your neck in SA. If you'd bothered to look at his posting history ( all three of them ) you'd have seen his first post was in Menalaus's thread asking for help finding accomodation, hence knowing about it.

Just because those who lurk for a while before posting "should know what we are like" is no excuse for being rude for no reason, especially when the post was actually helpfull to the OP.
