matters not who you complain to - you may get a bit of compensation if money is your main driver but the biggest issue is that no matter who supplies you phone service and whose name is on top of the bill (unless you are on a virgin light pipe (Ithink!)) the infrastructure that delivers your calls is owned and managed by BT.

so when you use the phone you either pay BT directly or pay a middle man who then pay BT.

that is why BT can get away with absolutlely shocking service and complete disregard for the customer - they have no place else to go to get a fixed line phone service in the UK

        That's not entirely true.

There are loads of people who are doing away with landlines and going mobile only.

This number is likely to get larger.

It makes me laugh every time I receive an internal BT email. Management directives or reorganisations are justified by their "improving the customer experience" or helping to get things "right first time".

I've lodged a formal complaint with BT, so they have to investigate how and why the mistake happened. Hopefully, at the very least the culprit will get a dressing down.

I've also put in an order to have the line reconnected. Will take 2-3 working days, which is interesting because my mum actually moves out of the place on Friday. So BT will be installing the line for approximately 1 day's use. But, I'm damn well going to make them do it anyway.

May complain to Ofcom, but like someone said, what's the point? At least I didn't have to speak to Indian Bob yesterday. The previous day I ended up telling him I couldn't understand what he was saying. Feel a bit guilty about that.

Anyway, thanks for the concern. Spoke to mum last night, my nephew went round there, and I spoke to her on his mobile. She struggled to use it even though all she had to do was speak into it, so I don't think a PAYG is going to help her much. But she's okay.
