    2 month contract - postman

Just speaking to our local postman who has been delivering our post for years. He was telling me as a permie with royal mail he is on a 2 month rolling contract!

    To stop them striking?

Was it his idea or did the PO suggest it to him?

They have been doing that for years and years.

My friends used to do the job when they left school to get a few bob and they were always getting let go on the last day of the contract. One of them ended up with a PhD but the PO thought he was not of the right stuff for the place.

Not surprised. It takes most PhD students 3 years to hand over one single chunky A4 envelope.

The fact he had a PhD didn't matter, I doubt they decided he didn't belong on in the place purely because of his academic achievements.

The bits about "when they left school" and "ended up with a PhD" suggests to me that they did not see a PhD on his CV when he worked there.
