That was the point, if he somehow hypnotised us to believe the numbers were the ones he picked... so every time we see the numbers our mind makes us remember HIS numbers.
That's exactly the kind of thing he appears to do in some of his TV programmes (the dog track trick I mentioned earlier) but I can't believe it's possible in this case.
