Quite right SA. It annoys the teats off me.
I think it's a marketing meme invented by the various British tourist boards to make us think we'll save money.
So what happens. All the worthy plebs decide to 'staycation' and the UK hotels jack up the prices!
Will be going to Portugal for a week, shortly, and having a great time, on a modest budget, and laughing at the cocks who's gone to 'Sunny' Devon, or somewhere, getting ripped off in a crap hotel, with crap service and inedible food.
