We have discovered in the past that the moderators actually have lives of their own. This came as an immense shock to me; I would never have thought there were humans behind CUK, for some reason.
There was one evening when Ferret posted to a very fast growing thread something to the effect of "You swines, why did you have to do this on my 5-a-side night?" That suggests there are hours at a time when there is nobody in attendance.
Therefore, it can be hours before your hypothetical DirtyDrapes sockpuppet gets its first post moderated.
Indeed, I have seen a newbies' first post appear up to about 30 hours after they actually wrote it.
So WinkStainWindowDressing's first post may appear tonight. Or GoingBlind's first post may appear in the morning. Or SpunkPelmet's first post may appear tomorrow afternoon.
Bust most likely it will just be banned.
Hypothetically, would my sockie get an email telling him he's banned?

Apparently, when the owner next tries to log in as the sockpuppet, they would get a message saying they have been banned. There could be a reason provided, too.
For example, had I tried such a thing, I might have been given a reason such as "Has nothing constructive to say".
I trust you do know it is not necessary to wait for the first post to be moderated before doing subsequent ones? Not that you need to know that, of course, it is just of academic interest.
(Hypothetically) How long before I give up on my new Sockies first post?
I cannot see any sign of a moderator having logged in since yesterday lunch time. Hang on in there. Your (Hypothetical) PenisPorridgePortière sockie's banning may come soon enough...

Cos I was soooooooooo impressed with Chetty. My "back end specialist" would have been a legend.
Enough of that. That's my gag market.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
