I've found these great light bulbs in B&Q. They are marginally cheaper but they do use 5x the electricity that normal ones do and, when they are on, they run red-hot. The other downside is you have to replace them about four times as often.
How many do people want?
Are those the bright ones, that have a constant light level, that you can throw in the bin, that use normal light fittings, that fit inside existing light shades, that work with dimmer switches, that come in different colours, that cost 'marginally cheaper' where 'marginally cheaper' = 32p instead of £2:49, that work first time out of the box, that come in a thin lightweight box of up to eight rather than in 100g of multi-layered corrugated cardboard, that don't require specialist disposal methods, that are made of simple and plentiful and potentially recycled materials?
What a load of whinging. Stop buying cheap low-energy bulbs, you're supposed to be contractors living in houses with £20k kitchens and LEDs for everything.
And yes you can get dimmable low-energy bulbs, but I don't recall more info than that.
I am amused by people saying they don't like these new bulbs because they don't work with dimmers, but I dislike them because they are dimmer!
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
Lighting very important for setting the mood when wooing. You don't want a lady to feel like she's under a spotlight when seated on the sofa with a glass of wine. If you look like HAB's avatar it's even more important to be able to tone down the light; actually just switch it off.
