Avoiding French Tolls

There'd be no point in taking all the camping gear if we did that, anyway the kids love getting the ferry.

WHS. Avoiding the Autoroutes and using Routes Nationales will give you a very slow journey, because they go through towns.

To enliven matters you can always try avoiding buying the Swiss carnet and seeing if you get caught

I've had some pleasant long weekends in France avoiding the motorways altogether (OK, I occasionally cheated on the way back).

Avoiding French Tolls
