Sadly it is quite common for these types to have more babies which have to be taken away at birth, giving Christopher Booker an chance to rant on about nazi social workers.
Is that offered as a real option?

Your can't force someone to be sterilized.

Even before we had the Human Rights Act it was a no go.

You can't force them, and that's right. But can you incentivise them? Baby P's mother is probably not a danger to anyone if she doesn't have any more kids.

There is a whole horrible history in the West of sterilising people - we don't want to go down that road.

She would also be considered a danger to any kids she has partial responsibility for.

That means if she has a partner who has custody of his kids for a day or two, and the partner is a bit stupid/easily lead then she could be a problem.

US is in trouble because it was racial - one example.

We don't need to go into what happened in Germany.

              Canada did it - linky

Australia still does it in certain circumstances.

The woman is horrific, I hope she dies lonely, screaming and very soon.

No you cannot force anyone to be sterilised, that would be assault, neither did I suggest she be forced. It's just a personal opinion - as Mudskipper says, she is only really a danger to children she has care of. If she gets pregnant again you can be sure there will be a court order to remove the child at birth, providing the authorities dont lose track of her. Life outside prison will probably be more of a punishment than life inside. She is typical of a certain kind of dim, easily led woman that puts the latest bloke above her kids. Sadly not uncommon. They are often warned over and over again that they will lose their kids if they do not get rid of some abusing bloke, but ignore it.

Yup that's the problem right there. Warn once then act. Decisively.

I doubt it will ever truly get through to her what she has done. I hope it does, for just one night.
