The only thing I would say was that McKinnon did apparently change password files. So it was more than just trespass.
But I agree it's monstrous and a disgrace to our spineless Government that this extradition treaty is one-sided (and it was a long time before Congress even ratified it at all).Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment

The fact is that this alleged criminal will be tried in the US, saving us loads of money and judicial time. Any sentence will be paid for by the US taxpayer, which is pretty good as far as I am concerned.

They won't be using it. That's just scaremongering in order to try to make us feel sorry for the alleged criminal.

I don't know. I'm in two minds about this.
Probably no domains on the Internet get as much attention from hackers than the .mil and .gov domains. From day one the administrators of these sites have had to suffer constant attack, and have probably had to spend many extra tens (or hundreds) of millions of dollars to protect them. If you were an administrator of one of these (sub) domains you would want anyone who was caught hacking to be put bang to rights.
Just a thought.Cats are evil.Comment

That's the point here; they hadn't. Many of these sits had no password on the admin account, or the password was 'password'.Originally posted by swamp View PostProbably no domains on the Internet get as much attention from hackers than the .mil and .gov domains. We're not talking about a master hacker here; he was just a kid on a mission to find the secret alien spaceship photos. If those sites had been secured, he would have given up in a couple of hours.
The $00,000s the Merkins claim was the cost of them applying the security the stupid buggers should have had in the first place. The Chinese and Russians must have been all over those systems. Indeed, Gary McKinnon said there were others logged in at the same time as him that were clearly also snooping about.
Gary McKinnon humiliated them in their incompetence; it is for that he is to be punished. My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment
