Mission to Mars or spend on Third World Aid?

It seems no matter how much money is spent on aid to Africa etc. there will always be poor starving people, so rather than piss money away creating ever more dependent people who cannot sustain themselves (leading to more deaths, and increased global warming) we could further humanity's reach into space.
Plus you could have a token African in the spaceship, so they'd all be chuffed anyway.

Mars, then Ryanair can ship all the poor people there.

Is there any point going to mars? I mean we got bored going to the moon once we worked out there was nothing to do there, when they started to take golf clubs and a few balls to hit the longest ever golf shot ever then it all got very silly and proved how much a boondoggle the whole thing was.

That would create more poverty, the world is already overpopulated.

We'd do better going to Mars where we might learn the first tiny steps towards finding another planet to live on.
