Flippin eck - Greenland in the new year? It'll be about -60 degrees, with howling snowstorms.Originally posted by Menelaus View PostPossibly heading to either Greenland or Canada for new year.
Have a good time though - I'm sure there's lots to do there

The *very* southern end of Greenland. Have friends there so it'll be a number of evenings of music and merry-makingOriginally posted by OwlHoot View PostFlippin eck - Greenland in the new year? It'll be about -60 degrees, with howling snowstorms.

No major planned holidays, since I don't get paid for time off, and whilst I can manage a day or two a month, any more than that and I'm in Pooh Creek.Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

For some obscure reasons a long weekend in England is turning into a overly long stay.
I think I shall escape in the next day or so and go watch the Tour de France in person, rather than over the net.Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

Contractor - don't do holidays. Let all the permies go on holiday so I can sit around the office with nothing to do and rake it in then take time off and do spontaneous things. My last contract the manager told me to take a holiday otherwise I'd burn out, I replied 'how? Doing what? This contract is a holiday.' Remember I already live in a foreign land so its like being on holiday all the time. During the summer it is pretty damn hot here so I can get up, slowly, go into town, sit in a cafe in the centre drinking Eis Cafe watching all the pretty girls go by then off to the Biergarten. Why sit on a beach or look at all the touristy things with loads of other people the same as you?“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment
