    [QUOTE=Rebecca Loos]what a lot of tripe

    [snip]
Many US fast food chains (McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, Taco Bells, KFC) prosper in the UK while I have never seen anything other than McDonalds in Italy or le McDo & Quick in France. I have certainly never ever seen a Burger King, Wendys or KFC in France for example.
    [snip]

Have you tried a 'Buffalo Grill' or the Macdonalds at Place Pigalle?

On the other hand, compare the selection available at the Autoroute stops with that available at most of our Motorway Services. (with the honorable exception of the Westmorland? Services on the M6)

The problem for me is the average Brit attitude to eat - it's a function, something that has to be done x times a day, like sleeping or p*ssing, in betwen rounds of horrible lager.

RL you would find Belgium to your taste, excellent beer, excellent restaurants which IMHO knock the spots off the over priced Paris and London equivalents at a fraction of a price and superior cuisine to boot.

Should you ever find yourself in Brussels thres a wonderful restaurant in Schaarbeek , not to far from Gard Noord, called, and I kid you not ,The Ultimate Hallucination, it has exquisite Art Decor and fantastic food , and like all things here in Belgium , cheap as chips for a restaurant of such outstanding quality.

Which is just as well as Im only on a Fiver a day.

        Remember ?

Yes, it wasn't bad although I'd have preferred cod's wallop !

And we all know what you are doing around GDN dont we Alf.
Spent a year in Brussels and never found a decent place to eat, all the seafood stuff seemed very bland or over sauced.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Exactly my point! Foods available in any motorway service station in the UK, or Little Chef on A roads..... disgusting enough to die by just looking at it!

I am not slagging off ALL of the British food landscape.... but it could be better. Having said that, as the Lone Gunman said, it is very possible to eat tulip in France, Italy, Spain too..... just less likely. We are talking averages here
                Chico, what time is it?

Ah but then you didnt visit the Ultimate Hallucination and possibly made the mistake of eating in Central Brussels .

Schaarbeek is the place to go , I happen to live close to Gard Noord and eveyday I pass those Femmes De Joie which I think you have in mind.

Of course I wouldnt dream of visiting those sultry wenches, well I cant on a Fiver a day now, can I ?

But what about you LG, your strike me as a man of the world , did you ever pop in , and if so .... whats it like ?
