Don't fool yourself. Every striker needs providers for the majority of their chances, there's none that don't.

A striker's first job is to score goals, and Owen got them at a good rate. If he'd performed like you're implying he should, he'd have become the first player to score a goal a game at international level.

Hopefully he's a Raffa' double agent.

King Kenny back at Liverpool though.

If he can score goals at with a cack team like newcastle, he should bag quite a few with the reds.

If he can stay fit this is a good signing for Man Utd as he will definitely score lots of goals from the chances they create. As it's on a pay for play basis there really is no risk to Man Utd financially. If only Newcastle had had a similar deal, Owen would be a pauper by now !!

I agree, it could be a good signing.

Scum they might be, but Man Utd are a well-run club with a top manager and a good coaching set-up. Few British players fail there, if any.

The opposite of Newcastle in other words.

Owen seems to have problems with injuries, but when he plays he is sparkling. His strike rate is superb.

Ferguson has a very good track record with problem and injury prone players. he has taken a few whos career seemed to be over and put them back to their top level.

Not saying it will happen, but could be a smart move for all concerned.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

If he could get back anywhere near his talent from 10 years ago, he'd be well worth it. I just don't know if that's possible, I've never heard anyone praise him since he broke his leg big-time, or whatever the injury was.
