We've done this before - I said the same at the time, but as someone pointed out then, Murray has said since he was kidding and I say fair enough. He is young and proud to be Scottish and talented - good for him. Sadly many sports stars are good at their sport and not witty raconteurs too but that's just the way it is.

I have generally enjoyed time spent in Scotland and I've never had overt anti English racism there like I did in California.

As for the "subsidy" - loads of southern (english) tossers have this superiority complex about anywhere that isn't the "home" counties (i.e. expensive, overcrowded and full of arrgoant tossers pretending they live in paradise) - they need to keep it up or they'd realise what a hell-hole most of the South of England really is.

Murray is second on court today which should be about 3pm. The joys of being on the bench.

I haven't been watching the tennis, but I just wanted to say,

          COME ON TIM !
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Is this now a weekly debate?

So he's Scottish, he's not particularly charismatic, and when he was a teenager he was a wee bit moody (Not seen that for a long time btw).

Yep, clearly great reasons to hate the guy, what a twunt he is.

******* hell, here's a guy how's proud to play for Britain in the Davis cup, and like any scot cracked a joke about supporting whoever England were playing - suddenly he hates the English - I crack jokes like that all the time, but I've got absoultely no problem with anyone who's english, and any english sports team except the rugby one.

**** me, I've seen as much, if not more anti Scottish bigotry living in England than I ever saw in Scotland. Get over it, and get the blinkers off. Get behind him, we'd be behind Tim if he'd the actual balls to do something in a tournament instead of glorious failure cause he was too nice!

And CB, if I was living in Scotland I'd take independence, and you could shove your subsidy. While we're at it, I want to stop subsidising the rest of England, money I make in London I want to stay in London, you northern leeches can all piss off

It's just a shame Nadal isn't there to repeat last year's amazing final.

I found it very interesting that Murray had to raise his arms on a couple of occasions in the second set yesterday to get the crowd involved and more vocal. Funny but I don't remember Federer, or Roddick, or Hewitt, or even Djokovic having to do that. I wonder why?
Personality bypass is a front he puts on in front of the English media after being hung to dry when he quipped about England losing at football.
The comment was a f****ing wind up to Tim Henman (In Murrays Book) and was taken out of context by f**up English media rags.....I wonder why they did that eh?

Show me an Englishman an I'll show you an inherent loser......No wonder the Scots are at the pinacle of running this country, your football teams, Uefa....etc.....

Very revealing. I specifically said I just don't like the guy and it is nothing to do with him being scottish. And out you come with a bigotted rant? ("Show me an Englishman an I'll show you an inherent loser").

Does the word "hypocrite" mean anything to you?

Or are you telling me that people can only support people in sport that are from the same country they are from? And if that is the case, then why is Federer the most popular tennis player in the world? Why did so many people support Borg?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus
