No slating required. It's just that we didn't have enough(any) of the right vehicles for the job on site! (I think most of our "PIGS" are still in Norn'Oireland!) - although Kuwait have got a few Saracens they could lend us! -
If you read the article the vehicle pictured is not intended for use in a patrol situation as a replacement for the crappy Snatch Landy's. It is intended for reconnaissance, rapid assault and convoy protection.Originally posted by realityhack View Post...and they're open topped.
Marvellous. Bought in from US-based Navistar Defence, these - no doubt - highly reliable vehicles will ! offer maximum protection from roadside bombs, RPGs and snipers.
Or am I missing something here? Cue slatings from the 3 people who actually know what they're talking about and the armchair soldiers who've read the SAS Survival Handbook on the bog.

I miss the Saracen. Intimidating, especially when driven slightly on fire like an angry Christmas pudding.Comment

There's nothing stopping them at all, but if you were driving and they shot your tyres, would you sit there thinking "oh bugger I've got to get out and change the tyres" or would you drive away at warp 9 on the bare rims ?Originally posted by realityhack View PostForgive me for asking what might be silly questions... but what's stopping the enemy from simply shooting out the tyres on any of these vehicles, rendering them a sitting target?Comment

I'd call the AA. Make them bloody work for their money.Originally posted by rhubarb View PostThere's nothing stopping them at all, but if you were driving and they shot your tyres, would you sit there thinking "oh bugger I've got to get out and change the tyres" or would you drive away at warp 9 on the bare rims ?Comment

The cockpit may look vulnerable, but they deploy the latest Invisi-Field (tm) barrier technology, which can stop anything entering the cockpit zone.
It's a development of other's technology you see.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
