Cyberman naturally sees this as an(other) opportunity to blame Tory cuts on Labour policies! WAFW (anyone need a glossary?)

Thatcher left in 1990. So anyone born after 1985 would not have been educated under Thatcher. So anyone under 24 has not had any education under Thatcher.

I agree, a significant proportion of state-educated voters in recent elections will have grown up with Tory cuts and meddling spoiling their education.

Because of our crazy voting system, even most of the people who bother to vote don't vote for the party that gets in - that's true in the case of both main parties and we're all the poorer for it.

I suppose that what really irritates me is that the Tories will get in, make an equally big mess of it in a different way, and the Tory fanboys will alternate between trumpeting that everything really is better, and blaming it all on the previous lot.

I am no fan of Labour, and in the case of New Labour am resolved not to vote for them come what may. But it is head-shakingly depressing to read so many people souting their future history of Cloud Cuckoo Land wherein the Tories make everything right. I do hope your rose-coloured glasses are to hand.

I am no fan of Labour, and in the case of New Labour am resolved not to vote for them come what may. The bottom line is that if the Tories do make a mess of it they won't have created an extra 20 years of massive debt to repay. Labour is expensive incompetence and I would much rather have cheap incompetence !!

I dont think all the Tory boys on here expect perfection from a Tory Govt. It is obvious mistakes will be made and some policy will be unpopular.
The Tories do tend to be better at spending what is available and not being profligate with other peoples money. They also tend not to base policy on some sort of social equality experiment. Labour tend to try and make sure everybody gets an equal slice of the pie by redistribution, Tories tend to try and make the pie bigger in the first place so that even the smallest piece is worth having. Not a perfect analogy, but it works for me.

There are as many rabid anti Tories who can not see the reality for their hatred as there are pros.

I don't need to pop my head over the parapet, I've said it repeatedly, on my own, to CB for a long time.

I think he brings this board down a few levels, occasionally crossing the line into entirely unacceptable but he's pretty much always close. This board would be be far better place without him, and I sincerely hope he leaves because his daily output of pure drivel spoils the experience of posting here for many people.
