Taxpayers could end up subsidising the £9bn bill for Heathrow's third runway
I thought Heathrow was a private enterprise, so why am I being asked to stump up cash to save it ?

Capitalism should either stand on its own two feet or be allowed to die.

    Simple.

If it was state-owned, then that would be different, and asking for tax payer money would be justified in return for cheaper flights ofc.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Its bad enough if the 3rd runway goes ahead for those who do not support it, making them pay out of taxpayer's funds adds insult to injury.

£1bn for 3 miles of tarmac, £8bn for cost overruns and payments to various quangos and "special interest groups".

              Simples!

£1 million for the road and £8.999 billion for the directors, shareholders and other immoral and legal methods of lining the executives and government ministers pockets? Isn't that the way the country is being pillaged now?
