It's quite possible that a slight short term rise in muslim birth rates in France is temporary and corresponds to a slight short term rise in birth rates among other groups. You need to look ate the development of the birth rate over 4 or 5 decades relative to the development of the birth rates of other groups. So when all groups or most groups show a slight rise, is the rise among muslims higher or lower? When all groups show a fall, is the fall among muslims higher or lower?

Anyway, according to those figures Muslims are 5-11% of the population; is that really any basis for making predictions? That's a huge margin of error.

Absolutely right. It is pretty damn stupid just to ignore the situation and hope that it will go away. Just look what happened in Belfast yesterday with escalating racial tensions. It's not muslims as far as I am aware, but the principles are the same.
