I'd just pretend I hadn't received the text message and turn up for work as normal, behaving as if nothing had happened. Just to see what they'd do...

A friend of mine worked for Nat West (years ago) - He was, along with a couple hundred others booked on a course at one of the big hotels in Manchester for a Monday morning. They got there and each had a box with the contents of their desk in them
