At the far ends of the spectrum are where the nutters gather. But that's exactly who and what they are, at the extreme ends and not representative of the majority - so to label everyone with the brush created by a few doesn't make any sense.

I agree with that, but it seems fashionable to label EVERY BNP supporter as a right wing thug. They are not all.
It has been my experience that the BNP would garner more support if it could get rid of its right wing thugs. People just do not want to be associated with that sort of thing.


I regularly drink in East Lancs where the BNP has a lot of support. There are lots of outright racists but there are a lot of people who discuss supporting the BNP but can oft be heard muttering that they do not want to be associated with the racist thugs. It is not so much the racism that seems to bother them as the violence that goes with it.

I watched the whole of that interview as it was taking place and Nick Griffin got an absolute mauling and made a right plum of himself. I think he was unfortunate that results weren't coming through and Sky were desperate to fill time so decided an extended verbal beating was on the cards.

It just shows that this idiot may be OK at whipping people up into a frenzy in function rooms above sink estate pubs but up against an interviewer or two with brain it all comes unravelled.

Anyway, back to the North West vote. I can't believe 26,000 people voted for some loony no-chance 'Christian' party which effectively pushed the BNP into the MEP zone.

He made a fanny of himself, well out of his depth, he could have dodged most of these questions but just kept walking into the trap. They were obviously out to get him to make some racist comment and would not stop fishing. Of course he was stupid enough not to see that and eventually gave them what they wanted. I'm still trying to locate this alleged report by a DOD general about islam taking over europe within 5 years. No luck so far..

I laughed at his use of "islamic failed state" - geez I wonder country he was referring to there? And to begin by calling the UK a "slum" really showed what level this main speaks at. I suppose when the Irish were living in the slums around here he'd be talking about Catholics messing up the world.

Anyway..around where I live..the BNP councillors have shown how pathetic they are and are rarely re-elected. I think the one in Blackburn a few years back quit the party when he found out what it was really about.

create a serious party. A lot of what he says about out of control immigration and the undermining of "indiginous" people and even some of the stuff about multiculturalism and "ghettos" of other cultures (though ghettos is the wrong word) represent legitimate concerns of many people.

If he was to position BNP as a party representing all "indiginous" groups no matter what colour or religion they are then he would get a lot more support.

The problem with these people like any other extreme organisation (including the Greens ) is that they leap on something contentious and twist it just to get support knowing that their real agenda carries little sympathy.
