Now, rope around the neck and genitals strongly suggests auto-erotic asphyxiation. Men in their 70's tend to have an increased fatality rate when indulging in this incredibly dangerous activity.

Wardrobes are not typically strong enough or tall enough inside to hang a person from, so the theory of using the wardrobe as a suicide device is less likely.

However, I suspect a wardrobe is a suitable safe and hiding place for someone engaging in autoerotic asphyxiation.
