Now you are talking. I was sorely tempted by one of those a few years ago.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away. -
If I remember correctly they did a seriously fast version of that. Anyone recall what it was?Originally posted by zeitghostBehold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

Hmmm, the 1970s:
- Openly racist attitudes being common-place
- Houses not having double-glazing or central heating
- Shops not being open at a convenient time for you
I am sure you don't really want that, but welcome to my world.

Right, now it's just totally accepted and scientifically proven by some - Houses not having double-glazing or central heating
No global warming, temperatures were acceptable - Shops not being open at a convenient time for you
Same as now really (at least in Switzerland)
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.Comment

Both of those programs were supposed to anti-racist by making fools of the racist characters.Originally posted by zeitghostAh yes.
Alf Garnett on the telly ranting about coons & such like... though that was more 60s than 70s.
And that ITV thing about the guy with the black neighbour, whatever that was called.
Classic stuff.
Didn't work
Note: I may be a right-wing, tax-avoiding, capitalist bastard, but I detest racism. So no flaming me.How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Im only young enough to remember the last three years of the 70s.
My dad had a ford capri.
My older sister took me to the cinema to watch Grease
and i remember her crying when elvis died.
The only mildy racist programme i remember was Mind your language, which was hilarious viewing at the time.Comment

"On the Buses" was quite racist, and sexist as I recall, such as the way they used to persecute poor old Olive.
I wasn't bothered about either, both then and now, but it never seemed very funny.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment
