in terms of barometer,
I think the time to really worry,
is when us .NETters are on the bench
because if .NETters are on the bench then things are _really_ bad !

Hmm got an offer of helping out at the scuba diving center in chepstow a couple of days a week from my mate. Probably take it on so I wont have to pay to use the facilities.
Lets see the tax man get me now 35m under the water :-)Comment

uky kozak,
if you're gonna put in a few hours at the quarry then you can start by cleaning up the entrance, it's a flippin' mess and doesn't at all do the place any justice
rest of us,
the key to IT in any recession, is to simply,
stay in the game at all costs
'cos if you are out of the game when the market turns you will have deskilled and miss the upswing
furthermore, I am always happy with recessions, because they compound the future situation in two ways, people get kicked out of the game, and new blood from universities does not come into the game as the is no work,
and therefore,
compoundly, when the upturn comes, there will be fewer hands to do the work and hence, rates should increase handsomely
good luck all

Perhaps your local boozer needs people part time. Supply teacher is an option if you have a degree. All these kinds of work will bring you into contact with people you might not otherwise have dealt with and what’s more, they’ll help keep the war chest intact as long as you don’t have a very lavish lifestyle.
It's not hard to have a substantial mortgage payment without having a lavish lifestyle, BTW. And if you do, shelf-stacking or bar work is no better than no work at all.Comment

@Milan
Yep agree on the entrance but they are waiting for planning cos the helicopter pad is gonna be there. It was only a temporary entrance while the new entrance is being constructed.(Again waiting for permission cos it takes forever in that neck of the woods.)
No I will not be out of the game as I have invested too much of my life to application repackaging and app-v. Its a good area to be in, so long as they keep releasing new OS's.Comment
