I have that switched on.

If I go to google.com and start to enter a search term the it will provide a drop down list of suggestions (not my previous searches), however from iGoogle it doesn't do it.

The settings are saved as a cookie and might have got corrupted.

Goto preference next to search box and check 'Do not provide query suggestions in the search box'
