I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt, not that fancy store-bought dirt... I can't compete with that stuff.

        • grand tour of Russia inc Mongolia
        • South America (Chile, Peru Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil)
        • Cairo to Cape Town or Cape Town to Cairo
        • doing New Zealand properly i.e N&S Islands (only spent 3 weeks there before)

not sure is the easiest answer

Looking at that option also myself. I would love to do India although I have my doubts about their food hygiene standards, and of course it may not be a good time if the dreaded SF hits the country.

oh FFS... it's exactly someone like you that I hope I never meet when exploring the planet..

if you want food hygeine standards, goto a fully westernised country or stay in a 5 star hotel, either that or do what countless others do and take obvious precautions:

chef's idiot/cybertory guide to eating in foreign countries:

              1) if the place looks busy with locals it's because it serves good food at prices locals believe is acceptable and not crap junk that is aimed at westerners
              2) if it's busy, it therefore must also have a high turnover of food and therefore reduce the chance that food is sat around
              3) if the menu is in the local language only, great.. if there is no menu and it's full of locals, even better
              4) look at what is the most popular dish being served, point to it (unless you speak the local language), order it
              5) if the establishment is empty, avoid it
              6) if it is empty and also serves western food that's spelt very badly on the menu including lots of pictures, avoid like the plague

as for the Swine Flu, ensure you have good insurance cover (including International Recovery), take the same precautions you would in the Uk (i.e wash your hands etc.), if you feel ill, get medical help asap.

in any hot foreign country i would be far more worried about contracting malaria than swine flu..

Summer time I think it would be too hot for me in India.

South america would be great though. I've always fancied BA for steak, red wine, tango, football etc.
