But as for the the poverty, these things are real, they happen today, to people who dont deserve it. I lived like that for ten years, it is horrible. listen to BI and Alf.

That wasn't the question asked. Food, Heating and clothing was specified.Originally posted by BrowneIssue View PostBut could you go a year on £3,120? And for every week of that year, not know whether you would have a job the next week? And at the end of that year, still not know whether you would have to do it again for another year?
Again not in the original spec, but to answer this question I'm a good practical electical engineer who doesn't mind plumbing, if the parts are cheaper than a new machine I can fix it. I replumbed and rewired this house and installed central heating when I bought it.Originally posted by BrowneIssue View PostIt's doing it week in, week out, not knowing when you'll be offered a job. And having to make decisions ever time something goes wrong but without sufficient information to make good decisions.
When the washing machine packs up do you:
a) invest in an expensive A++ rating machine that will last a long time and be cheap to run?
b) pay a proper plumber £150 to fix it?
c) pay some bloke from the pub £50 to come and look at it?
d) buy a second hand one for £80?
e) start using the launderette (very expensive)?
It's easy to choose (a) when you're in work. But when long term unemployed stuff like that leaves you in tears; you literally cannot afford to make the wrong decision. But (e) might be the only option.
Flavourings aren't expensive and don't run out all at once. I'm not inclined to wear my suits and formal shirts/shoes while out of contract so they wouldn't wear out. Casual clothes last plenty of time and if I'm sat at home I tend to slob about in jogging pants and sweatshirt, if required to I probably have casual clothes that could last me at least 5 years without buying anything other than new boxers and socks.Originally posted by BrowneIssue View PostWhat would you do once your stock of herbs & spices have gone? And the cleaning materials? And your clothes are getting worn out? Living on £60 for one week is not the same as living on £60 per week.
Based on the original question my answer is still yes!!!!!Comment

Ermmmm let me think about that one.....Originally posted by Pogle View PostBut would you want to....
NOPE.
(However that wasn't in the business spec, as a BA you know that it's an irrelevant question

I used to get my dolio once a fortnight. Straight away you have a problem, if you keep hold of any money, it will go, so you have to buy all of your essentials on day 1.
pay the milkman
pay the bread
top up the lecky
give the daughter her pocket money
pay back all the 'borrows'
buy two weeks worth of food.
so here is problem number 2. what food can you buy that will last two weeks. answer - tins, spuds, eggs.
So I became an expert in cooking up cheap tinned meals
Beans with curry powder, one boiled egg, toast.
Spahetti hoops, bit of cheese, toast
tin of meatballs , curry powder , toast
tin of corned beef , mustard , toast
tin of fish, tomato ketchup, toast
tin of bolegnese, toast
chip butties
repeat (for ten years)

EO, could you really not get a job, any job, for 10 years?
I've lived on the dole in the last recession - not very nice, but I was in a shared house and was used to living like a student then.Hard Brexit now!

She was about 14 before I could start leaving her alone, even then it was illegal.
