Of course it didn't, we all know that. However, not every contractor has been doing it for years and has a large warchest to fall back on in these situations.

At £500+ a day I'd hope he'd have a large warchest by end of week 2 ffs.

Contradiction in terms. If it's random, then how do you know they are good

Of course the definition of "good" equates to "not proven bad", which isn't quite the same thing

But I still I think I prefer the random nature of it, rather than the US system where both sides try and shape the jury to suit their tastes. The OJ Simpson trial was largely won by the defence before the first witness was called because the prosecution bent over backwards and let the defence have the jury they wanted because they thought the evidence was so strong

You should have saved enough money just in case BEFORE you jumped the boat to become contract.

In any case the amounts you quote (£500 per day) should allow to save pretty quickly unless you are financially irresponsible person who can't plan ahead.

Again, I'd agree with you here that the law should take this case into account as irresponsible people should not become jurors.

            There is no contradiction.

Let's say I have got 100 blue balls in sack and I pick random 10 blue balls. They are blue (colour property) but also random (method of choosing).

Well, I think there are some checks ie no criminal convictions, of course you can't be 100% sure everyone is good decent person, but if majority is then selecting 12 of them would be enough.

Unless he has kids. Or is divorced. Or a drug habit. Or likes high class hookers.

And he'd be responsible for at least 3 out of those 4 problems then...

It's a problem for them... and his finances.
