I'm sure Clive James presents his arguments in that article (which I didn't read all through) with impeccable logic.

But as he starts by stating that people watch porn to take their mind *off* sex, I suspect it may be based on a slightly false premise.

(unless he just means that in the crude sense of discharging their sexual preoccupations as the ultimate aim and, er, end result of watching the porn)
