    just back now.

    My thoughts on the crowd.

A LOT of booze. Cider and vodka mainly being drank by A LOT of kids (ie 15 to 20 year olds). Also some special brew. Not a good mix.

Lots of office workers having a look and tons of paps.

A few hard core crusty types, who will kick it off im sure. They looked like proper scumbags too. Hope they get a pasting.

Plod doing a good job though so far.

That protestor with the blood gushing from his head, I am surprised he was not pulled out.

Thoughts on the hardcore crusties, including that plonker with the 'sword'... why don't they simply pick the antagonists off one by one, arrest and cart them off?

Lots of talk of 'kettling' on Sky at the moment

With that in mind, I'm off to get a coffee

They actually looked fairly tulip crusties, they were never going to win against a line of plod with battons who looked fairly well trained. Crusties should have retreated and went for another target.

They will be playing it slow cos they dont want to antagonise the crowd and kick of somthing they can't handle.

Sword boy will be on film somewhere and there will be plain clothes offciers in the crowd to identify him and any others to be picked up later.

The aim here is to keep the peace and avoid a riot, not to steam in and arrest anyone they can.

They were talking to a guy in a hoodie with a scarf covering his face and he didn't have a clue why he was there. He kept repeating that it was wrong but didn't seem to know what was wrong or what he hoped to accomplish by protesting.

Is it bad that I neither know nor care why any of this is going on?! I feel like I should know!
