Trains are cool. Cars fall off the track - well when I'm driving they do.

Where is the "Both are pointless" option?

Had both, trains were dull and with Scalextric the cars kept coming off.
My step brother had 'TCR' (total control racing) best of both worlds.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

They were both rubbish.
Scalextric cars always crash and fall off and train sets go round in circles for ever if the rails are not loose (which they will be).
I gave up on both and played with electricity. The results were not always as I'd intended.Comment

Thanks for reminding me about these two. My ex-mrs forbid me from having racing cars when we were living abroad. We had a nice open-plan condo that was gagging for a large layout. Talking with some of the other British/Irish ex-pats down the local reviled a large interest for race nights.
But now she is history .....
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
