I wear glasses for watching TV & Driving. I can put up with that rather have some laser in my eye. Just not worth the risk in my case.

Having laser eye surgery doesn't mean you don't need glasses anymore. Everyone needs glasses after the age of 40 or so. After that age the eye doesn't accommodate well enough to see up-close (presbyopia actually starts aged 10) and eventually you need glassses for either close or distance. Being a little shortsighted (-1 to -2 D) may be best long-term, but some people prefer wearing glasses for close work rather than for distance.

What would be worse is if your surgeon didn't die in an horrific plane crash or he turned out to be a scrounging state sector parasite.

I'd say that it depends on your lifestyle. I got so fed up with (purchasing/cleaning/wearing/losing) contact lenses. Now that I can wake up in the morning (with almost 20/20 vision) and not have to prise my eyes open an insert those goddamn things is bliss. Also, playing football has been a complete transformation as I can now see the ball clearly from all over the pitch. It has done nothing for my kicking ability though.

As with most things, weigh up the benefits and the risks.

If you are thinking of having it done do as much research as possible. Personal recommendations were far more important than glossy sales literature IMO.
I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt, not that fancy store-bought dirt... I can't compete with that stuff.

The general acceptance is that your eyes will deteriorate as they normally would - laser surgery won't stop this (and isn't intended to).. I haven't come across anything that implies a higher rate of decline.

Before the procedure (well, procedures - I had it done twice as my prescription was so bad) I was completely dependent on my glasses and without them could only see to about 6 inches in front of my face.. which is about where you go out of focus from going boss-eyed anyway.. now I have no glasses at all.

Sure, they'll deteriorate over time.. but would have to be going some to be back at what I was before..

Daily disposables. No cleaning, no storage, no hassle and if you lose one it's like losing 50p.

              Sorted.

Not for me though. My prescription was so bad that those weren't an option.

Apparently it is a waste of time and only lasts between five to ten years before your eyes are worse than before. On top of that the operation does go horrifically wrong occasionally.

Any good or bad experiences ?
