The really sad thing is that the only one I could find that has a degree in anything science or engineering related is Margaret Beckett, who has a degree in metallurgy from UMIST. Small wonder successive muppets have decimated our manufacturing industry.
It's a sad day when scientists and engineers from reputable universities have to degrade themselves by going into politics. She could be gainfully employed making new advanced alloys for lightweight transport, superfast ships and designer cutlery, all of which could be exported to pay off Mr Brown's debts!

      Ah, good point.

Degree in medicine, so they make him shadow minister of defence. Well, it's not like he'd know anything about health, is it? Much more sensible for Andrew Lansley to be shadow secretary of state for health - after all he has a degree in politics.

George Osborne – Modern History (Oxford)
Alan Duncan – philosophy, politics & economics (Oxford) then winner of the Kennedy Scholarship (Harvard), economics
        Chris Grayling; History (Cambridge)
        Ken Clark; Law, (Cambridge)

Gordon Brown – History (Edinburgh); PhD- History of the Scottish Labour Party (Edinburgh)
        Harriet Harman – Politics (York)
David Miliband - philosophy, politics & economics (Oxford)
        Alistair Darling - Law (Aberdeen)
Jacqui Smith – philosophy, politics & economics (Oxford)
Peter Mandelson - philosophy, politics & economics (Oxford)

        Interesting stuff.
One of the reasons I backed Major was because he was not from that bunch, I though a Conservative PM who was 'self educated' with a state school education understood more about the country than Labour Blair who came from Fettes ( rich private school in Edinburgh ) .

Most German and Japanese manufacturering businesses are run by engineers and scientists. You will not get into the boardroom of Daimler Benz, Bayer or Bosch or most other succesful German industrial corporations without an degree in Industrial Engineering or a related science, such as physics, pharmacology, chemistry or metallurgy. Now figure out why those companies have been so succesful down the years.

Bayer's actually a surprising exception though; the CEO worked his way up through the company having started as a junior salesman, but the other directors are all biologists, pharmacists, chemists and so on.

Gf has a degree in medicine, she voted for the Scottish Socialist Party in the last election. She pulls in 130,000 a year and voted for a party who want to cap earnings at 40,000.

What a complete and utter moron you are. I'm guessing you haven't got a degree, not even a Media Studies one from a poly.

              Hard Brexit now!

Nothing wrong with Polys; they should have been kept as institutions for higher vocational studies. Works well enough in the rest of Europe.

Indeed they served a role and the better ones were technically quite excellent. It's just that when they became "unis" they invented all manner of crappy "degrees" instead of sticking to their core competencies.

So what is your degree in? If you have been through a science degree you would know how much it involves, you have clearly not went through a politics degree.
