British Empire - good or bad?
Collapse

It can be good or bad depending on which era you live(d) in, who you were, where you lived, and a whole other stack of variables. Right now the British Empire in general would probably be bad unless it was a complete world domination. The cycle of life: born > learn > work > learn > dead. -

British empire was a mixed bag.
Pro :
It established peace accross 20% of the Earth.
It stamped out distressing practices like Thugee (ritual murder of travellers) and reduced Suti (ritual suicide of widows).
Against :
It repressed native peoples and removed their liberty.
It simply cost too much to go on.
It wasn't PC.
