Its the same story where i am, but fortunately i havnt been replaced so far (dont know how long i can hang around)

But, apparently, Govt's tough immigration rules are difficult to apply on these incoming people because most of them are employee of indian consultancy companies, which is doing business with UK based firms.

And these are "Cost effective" measures to maintain "competitiveness", and at this point of time it looks like Govt cant stop them as large number of job providers in this country are Foreigners (US banks, European energy providers etc).

Many of you claim that compared with the Indians you are dynamic, resourceful and problem-solving. So why not use your companies to become outsource providers by employing aforementioned Indians for a pittance, then sourcing them here?

It was a serious comment. If you are really businesses and not "disguised employees" then you should be looking for where the market is heading and exploiting it to your benefit, no?

My beef is that our lot seem unable to hit a 16" toilet bowl with a turd.

Trap 2 is now regularly out of service as suddenly the way to use a toilet seems to be curl one and then pile an entire bog roll on top rendering the pan unflushable, then next visitor drops their 'egg' on top of that pile and repeats with another pile of bog roll.

This means when visiting the little boys room for my afternoon constitutional i'm confronted with a towering pile of wet bog roll/stool mix with an outsourcers egg perched jauntily on top. Nice.

God knows how they manage to lay the final one as the tower is 5 foot high by this point. I reckon they visit in 3's and form a human pyramid to lay the final 'fairy' on the top.

Sorry if i put you off your lunch!

Yep that bears out my experiences as well!

Oh I don't know...just little things called "pride" and "integrity". Why would I want to blow a professional reputation that has taken me years to build up, by employing incompetent idiots just because I can make a fast buck?

No thanks - I'll give that one a miss if it's all the same to you.

I can't understand the logic at the client company at the moment. There is no way on this earth (or any other) that the team they are replacing the current lot with, will even get close to doing the job. I fully expect it to fall flat in say 2 weeks. Perhaps the client company will then decide to do without the config team, but if that was what they wanted to do, then why go down the Indian route.

One of the roles I have to do is to fingerprint all the bespoke sw installed on the servers using a tool called enterprise discovery. There are only a few people in the UK who have done this (as most simply use the updates from HP). The guy who was brought in to show us the ropes is charged out at £1200 per day by HP. An agent was tasked with finding people to do this for the Indian company and was given a budget of £170 per day. I was asked to show an Indian guy how to do it. It took 20 mins - he didn't ask one question. So unless he is very clever....
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                      I preferred version 1!
