I would re-model the NHS with much less central control. It would be managed on a county level, with functioning internal market, and people allowed to move between different counties for treatment.

Helicopter managers would not be allowed, by law, promotion would need to be internal.

The difference is that the Tories are not swimming in their own self-righteousness. Everything gets worse under Labour even though they always waste billions more !!

Labour discouraged private health by removing tax relief. This has had the effect of reducing the total funding that could go into the NHS and caused more people to rely on it, thus reducing the quality of service. Just plain stupid !!

Health clubs and Private Health should be allowed tax relief. Both policies would reduce the burden overall on the NHS as we would have a fitter population and they would be contributing more to a service that they would probably never use.

Guess what? Telegraph says it's all the Tories fault:

If Mr Brown has been remiss at shaping the NHS of the future, then Mr Cameron has proved much worse. Once the Tories were deemed most competent on health: voters, unimpressed by the Opposition's lack of ideas, now put Labour ahead by eight per cent – a collapse that this week prompted Mr Cameron to tell his senior team that the NHS will be a "key campaign".

So when were the Tories deemed most competent on health ? They have always been accused of lowering NHS standards in my lifetime, while it is Labour that have always achieved that deplorable situation while cynically making out that it is improving.
