The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

That's as maybe, but I had already accounted for the localised flooding due to many rivers bursting their banks (again)

Don't get me wrong, London is a great city and all of us should be proud of it. But it's not carrying us; on the contrary, we have a right to our pride because we share in its upkeep.
All that may well be true but the stats (easily found on the web) still show that most wealth creating enterprises are based in the south east and that London does indeed carry a large part of the UK.
Which part of the UK has the largest proportion of public sector workers?
          Look it up.

I'll forgive you northeners and Scots as it's well known that you are not the sharpest tools in the box (witness how a Scot has brought this country low by claiming to have "abolished boom and bust" ).
But this is independent research and no amount of weaselling will get away from the fact that the northern regions have the highest proportion employed in the public sector.

"swollen by billions of pounds in tax from financial industries in the City"

The ones the UK taxpayers just bailed out?

add to that the following Caveat

"Not all tax and spending can be definitively pinned down to regions. "

because tax paid in London doesn't = activity carried out in London

That's fantastic news for house prices.

However, those estimates are based on having a Labour government because under the Tories there will be an almighty crackdown on immigration. Most increase of population will be via Muslims who breed at 3.5 kids per family, with polygamous relationships obviously breeding at a much higher rate to extort benefits from the taxpayer. This is also something that must be tackled by HMG.

"In England the regions with the lowest proportions of their workforce in the public sector were the South East and the East Midlands (both 18 per cent). In contrast the North East (24 per cent) and the North West (21 per cent) had the highest proportions."

18 percent vs 21 percent is hardly much of a difference. So apart from 1 slight outlier in a traditionally deprived region (NE) most of the England is homogenous in State provided employment.
