    "Telephone Preference Service."

Moved home 6 months ago and forgot to register the new number. Got called today and remembered - I just said Telephone Preference Service and they hung up

Just registered so I shouldn't get any more calls -well it takes 28 days but still.

    Others I find useful are:

"Can't. I'm renting" (sometimes gets "would you ask the landlord for us?")

"Sorry, he's dead" ("OK, would you be interested?")

"I'm declared bankrupt." (although I had an MBNA cold caller say "that's OK, we have ways of getting round that" - which can't be right)

    Although I usually just use:

    "Oh **** off."

When I was a permie employee the business mobile rang more often from phone companies trying to persuade me to switch to a new tariff, new network or just get a new handset.

Most did not seem to understand when I said 'this is a company phone' so I just had to hang up on them.

I used to do cold calling for a window firm (ok I was 16 ffs!). Did make a lot of commission though.

The best way is to just tell them its a housing association property. You'll not hear from them again.

They'll mark them on the system and the numbers removed. Get arsy with them and they'll mark you as interested return call and you'll just get more tulip.

that's usually my line. I don't generally let them get through the first sentence and just hang up.

I must check if we're registered with the TPS.

If you ever buy anything from Kwik-Fit you will be hounded with calls from them for every type of insurance and other products they sell on an almost daily basis, until you ask them to stop. Then they will start sending you the info. by post.
