The recession will have to be incredibly deep before I learn to appreciate Coldplay!

meh, i hate the way it's apparently compulsory to like the bloody Beatles in this country. what a failure of imagination. i'd rather put a donk on itOriginally posted by Foxy Moron View PostThe Beatles would not make it today. They haven't got the look, the x-factor. Forget songwriting, we can do a cover, bound to get to number 1, we had a free advert for 3 months.

There was a real explosion of music from a town called Bellshill just outside Glasgow in the 80s, Bellshill is seriously like the dangleberry off the arse that is Glasgow.

Times are a changing, bands can't make money from record sales these days so there are more gigs than ever, you wouldn't think so looking at the daily dross that appears on prime time TV though.Originally posted by Foxy Moron View PostThe Beatles would not make it today. Get out there, start gigging.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

Maybe. Perhaps it’s just stupid nostalgia. I heard the La’s on the radio and it reminded me of lying in the grass at the Flamborough Head cliffs with a rather beautiful Irish girlfriend and a little radio playing lots of indie music. She had to leave to go and live in America with her parents, I had to stay in Blighty to study, so we made the best of our last weekend. But I remember the word ‘recession’ was continually in the news and we didn’t give a tulip about it; we just got on with enjoying life.Originally posted by minestrone View PostI think we are getting old.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Whoa , hold on there, what about The Jam (Woking) The Cure (Crawley) Keane (Sussex) , Stranglers (guildford) Genesis (Godalming area) Gorillaz (Sussex) , as well as London bandsOriginally posted by Foxy Moron View PostThey are to E&BM what Oasis are to The Beatles
It also shows that with a few notable exceptions, few decent bands come out of the South EastComment
