Yes, although to be fair I've never lived on one of the big estates. It's a wonder that anyone makes it away from those places (peer pressure to engage in crime, poor opportunities for real work, the sneering and bullying of those who chose to educate or train themselves).Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Thing is, I'm not ashamed about where I was brought up. I don't like it all that much but my parents, just like Sals bought their council house (still live in it, in fact!) and worked bloody hard to get us where we are.Bazza gets caught

Same here - our estate had about 100 houses in it. I was born in in 1967 and until 1971 lived in the Police House attached to the town Police Station.
I suppose that was a "Council House" of sorts.
My parents bought their first house when I was 4 for the princely sum of £4500.Comment
