    Ditto my mum.

But when they purchased theirs, it was in the days when Hotpoint built machines to last. Result = too few new sales. Bad business model.

Now they engineer them for a 3-year life, so I've heard. Result = lots of new sales as older machines die.

Maybe that's it, i always thought they were a good midrange option prior to this thread, can't say my bish Bosch is that much better
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

My Bosch has been amazing - very reliable and half the price of a Miele, still going strong after 7 odd years

I've had 25 years of reliability from AEG.

TBH, can't really add much to what has already been said.

However, back in my student days, a friend of mine spent the summer repairing washing machines. He said there is only a handful of things that can go wrong with them so if you know what they are, repairing them is easy money - just replace the part.

With that in mind, if you want to do some basic troubleshooting before ditching it, do a Google for a washing machine repair site - the one I am thinking of is written buy a guy who has been repairing them for years and has put all this info on the web. Sorry, can't remember the name, but think it was called washer help or something similar.

The washing machine in one of my BTL's was faulty and from his site was at least able to decide whether to repair or replace my machine as it gave me an idea of fault and potential cost of repair.

                    Oops wrong thread
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                    I preferred version 1!

Just in case this leads to people taking the tops/ backs off their machines, there is usually a large capacitor which remains charged for a short time after it is unplugged so what ever you do dont touch this for a little while after it is unplugged as it will discharge through you leaving you doing your own discharge requiring a change of underwear.

                      This concludes this numpty alert.
