Tomorrow night's dinner:
Mushrooms fried in butter in cream sauce on toast (home made bread).
Roast chicken (came out of the oven an hour ago) in a white sauce inside pancakes covered in mushroom sauce (i.e. a can of Campbell's condensed cream of mushroom soup) and baked.
Chocolate mousse.

Pogle, can't you get your landlord/landlady to knock up a few pancakes ?
You'll find most places in Essex happen to be located near a ruddy great Food Supermarket, so unless you really are in the backwaters, you should be in luck !Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

mmm I used to make my own mix - never turned out great.
then discovered the ready made mixes and really there is no contest - buy the ready made stuff and save yourself loads of time and effort - you are contractors after all so the slight increase in costs is wel worth it.Comment
