My cousin fell asleep at the dinner table and put his head in a plate of mince.

A friend used to go to sleep on the throne everyday during his engineering apprenticeship so it was no problem to him, he used to get pissed and fall asleep on the throne in pub toilets all the time. His mum found him in the house pissed and sleeping on the throne a few times.

These days I find it easier to fall asleep on planes, probably 'cos we've got young kids at home and quite often there is some sort of reason for one of them to wake up at 2 or 4 am!
I make sure it's not a busy flight, then i have kind words with the check-in staff and get three empty seats next to me. Armrests up, sorted.

Can you? I have to lie down to sleep, but once laying down it's no problem anywhere, e.g. trains, planes and probably even under the work desk.

        Can anyone sleep standing up?
Sounds like your accelerometer is broke.

Exactly. Finishing the second bottle of bubbly helps too.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I guess so... but I'd rather have my own bag of tricks - and fight with security when they try to take my lotions and potions off me!!

I dont know why thats funny, but it just is.

Seriously though, does the OP have tinnitus? I do, and its a bugger getting to sleep. White or pink noise help, you can (legally) download MP3s that are just an hour long white/pink noise track. Stick it on the ipod and bang, out like a light.

I can sleep on planes but not very well

Having said that a few times i've slept through take off, luckily woken just in time for when the coffees were being served up (early morning commuter flight)

Worst experience I had was falling asleep on a plane whilst watching Poseidon with the headphones still on.
I had been diving for the first time only days early and the memories of that, combined with half watching/hearing the film gave me some ****ed up dreams about drowning.

The other weird thing I have when sleeping on public transport is very vivid dreams about being on the coach/train/plane.
On one occasion whilst on my regular train home at the time I moved my bag from the seat next to me to let some other guy sit down.
Got to my station and went to grab my bag from the floor. Only to realise it wasn't there... it was still on the seat next to me
